CP7 Gas Safety Inspections
Gas equipment can be a hazard at work if it is not maintained properly. Using unsafe equipment or failing to test equipment fully could result in accidents and serious injury in the workplace.
ACA Health & Safety Services offers customers a very quick and easy way to avoid the pitfalls associated with gas safety, and comply with the BCGA Codes of Practice by providing you with a full on-site gas safety equipment check performed by our trained oxy-fuels gas equipment inspectors.
Who Says we need CP7 Gas Safety Inspections?
Under Section 2 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, an employer or Self-employed person has a responsibility to provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risk to health.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations requires that the user of an installed system and the owner of a mobile system shall ensure that the system is properly maintained in good repair, so as to prevent danger.
The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations requires gas equipment to be examined regularly. Consequently, gas welding and cutting equipment must be checked regularly.
How Often do I need a CP7 Gas Safety Inspection?
The BCGA’s Code of Practice 7 (CP7 – the safe use of oxy-fuel gas equipment) and Guidance Notes (GN7 – the safe use of individual portable or mobile gas cylinder gas supply equipment) recommends that the regulators and flashback arrestors be checked annually and replaced every five years.
Who can carry out a CP7 Gas Safety Inspection?
The annual check needs to be undertaken by a person who has sufficient practical experience of oxy-fuel gas equipment and theoretical knowledge of the functioning of the equipment, the properties of gases used, the potential defects and hazards that may occur and their importance to the integrity and safety of the equipment.
How can ACA Health & Safety Services Help?
We will arrange for a fully qualified CP7 Gas Safety Inspector to visit your site to carry out your gas safety inspections.
During the inspection, the insepctor will perform a through functionality and leak test of all component – regulators, flash back arrestors, hoses, torches, and associated fittings.
